If a page on your website doesn't load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll display, but what's common for all of them is that they're generic and probably shall have absolutely nothing that is similar to the layout of your website, which could be irritating for any site visitor. This is the primary reason why hosting companies have introduced a feature named Custom Error Pages. For a wide variety of different errors, website visitors shall see your unique content, which could be informative or witty, in accordance with your personal preference, and that will match the overall design and style of your Internet site, so the pages will not seem like they aren't part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Hosting
When you purchase a hosting
from our company, you'll be able to set custom made error pages for your websites easily and quickly, because this function is part of all of our packages. As soon as you've created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you can check out the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. Inside the pop-up that will appear, you shall see drop-down menus for all four kinds of errors and for each one of them you can select an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a tailor-made page. In case you choose the 3rd option, you should simply input the URL to the file which you have uploaded and save the change. One other way to set customized error pages is to set up an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder and to add several lines of code in it. If you do not have previous experience or if you're simply unsure how to do this, you may just copy/paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that subject.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All semi-dedicated servers
which we provide support custom error pages and it shall not take more than a couple of clicks from your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you'll have to type in the links to the custom-made files through very simple drop-down menus and a time and effort saving interface. Needless to say, you need to upload them in your account before that. If you do not want to employ this feature at some point, you will be able to disable it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to allow the customized error pages. The file should include a particular line of code plus a link for each and every error type and you may discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
