Varnish is a web accelerator platform, which caches info for the sake of faster response times. It is occasionally called an HTTP reverse proxy too and it interacts between a web server and its users. When a site visitor accesses a certain web page, its content is requested by the Internet browser, and then the server processes this request and delivers the needed content. If Varnish is activated for a particular site, it will cache its pages on the very first visit and in case the user accesses a cached page for a second time, the info will be delivered by the accelerator platform and not by the server. The increased loading speed is an end result of the much faster response speed that Varnish offers as compared with any web server software. At the same time, this does not mean that the website visitors will keep seeing the very same content over and over again, since any update on any of the pages is reflected in the content that Varnish caches in its memory.
Varnish in Hosting
You can unleash Varnish’s full potential and accelerate the loading speed of your sites regardless of the hosting package that you’ve chosen and you can enable and configure the content caching platform with a couple of clicks through the easy-to-work-with interface offered by our leading-edge Hepsia hosting Control Panel. During the process, you’ll be able to choose two separate things – how many sites will use Varnish, i.e. the number of instances, and how much information will be cached, in other words – the amount of memory. The latter is available in increments of 32 megabytes and is not tied to the number of instances, so you can use more instances and less memory and the other way around. If you’ve got lots of content on a particular site and you get plenty of visitors, more system memory will give you better results. You may also consider using a dedicated IP address for the Internet sites that will use Varnish. Hepsia will provide you with simple one-click buttons for switching off or rebooting any instance, for clearing the cache associated with any site and for seeing elaborate logs.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated servers come with Varnish by default, so you can make full use of the website accelerator tool and improve the load speed of any site that you host on our platform. You will get 64 megabytes of memory exclusively for Varnish at no extra cost and you will be able to add an instance with no more than a couple of clicks of the mouse from the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated packages. In case you need more memory, the latter is available in increments of 32 megabytes in the Control Panel’s Upgrades section and it will be available to you instantly. You can also add more instances as a separate upgrade, so you can choose if a lot of data will be cached for a single site or whether the memory will be used by several Internet sites. Hepsia will enable you to restart or to shut down any instance, to see the system log file associated with it or to delete the cached data using single-click controls. To take full advantage of the Varnish accelerator, you can allocate a dedicated IP address to the Internet sites that will employ it.
Varnish in VPS Servers
You can use the load balancing potential of Varnish with each of our VPS servers in case you select Hepsia as your hosting Control Panel. The platform is available by default and the amount of memory that it will be able to use to cache the content of your sites depends upon the specific plan that you have selected, but even with the less powerful packages, you’ll have at least several hundred MB of memory at your disposal only for caching purposes. This amount is sufficient to improve the overall performance of numerous websites. It’ll take a little time for you to observe the results, as the Varnish platform caches the content that visitors open, but after that you’ll notice the substantially reduced load on the Virtual Private Server and the increased Internet site loading speed. The Varnish caching platform will allow you to make use of a lower-end package for sites that would normally need a more high-priced hosting solution.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
In case you order a dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll get the Varnish platform at no extra cost and you will exert full control over it through a pretty simple-to-navigate GUI – you’ll be able to start, to terminate or to restart an instance, to browse an elaborate log, to clear the cache for any website and much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several GB of virtual memory at its disposal, so even if you host large Internet sites with an enormous number of visitors, you’ll notice the substantially better website loading times and the less load on the machine. This will happen shortly after you start using Varnish, as it will require some time to cache the site content that users browse. You can make the most of the platform’s capabilities if the Internet sites that are using it also use a dedicated IP, but owing to the fact that your dedicated server includes a few IPs by default, you will not need to pay anything on top of the monthly fee for the machine itself.
